Over this summer, the Johnson House Garden has been able to sell produce to Campus Dining Services (CDS) for use in their kitchen and fuel in the bellies of summer diners. Produce sold has included chives, peppers (both green bell and Hungarian wax), tomatoes (a variety of heirloom varieties), arugula, lettuce, radishes, etc.
Vegetables grown at the J-House Garden will continue to be sold to CDS as it swells and ripens over the remainder of the harvest season – keep your eyes peeled for our veggies!
Help us out by requesting more Oberlin student-grown, organic, as-local-as-you-can-get J-House produce to be served at Stevie, etc. by entering a short comment on CDS’s feedback page: http://www.oberlin.edu/cgi-bin/cgiwrap/reslife/commentcards/submit.php (feel free to write whatever else you feel inclined to about CDS).
As always, feel free to stop by the garden behind Johnson House (216 South Professor Street) and help out during garden hours (Sundays from 2-4pm) if you crave the satisfaction of a soil to tabletop connection.
I hope the last of the lazy summer days are treating you well!
Cheers, Caroline dV
